The Highway So Far...

The first quarter of the year has been less about momentum and more about pressure.
Evil Reigns wasn’t written to escalate for escalation’s sake. It was written to let consequences settle and to allow decisions made earlier in the Highway to Hell series to finally harden into something permanent. By the time this book begins, the storm isn’t approaching anymore. It’s already reshaping the ground beneath everyone still standing.
Looking back over the past few months, what’s stood out most hasn’t been numbers or milestones. It’s been the conversations. The quiet messages. The readers who recognized what this phase of the story was doing and why it needed to do it.
This quarter was about endurance rather than spectacle. About staying with discomfort instead of resolving it too quickly. About allowing faith, family, and obligation to fracture under sustained pressure, rather than shatter all at once.
That approach doesn’t always announce itself. But it accumulates.
As the year continues, the road ahead doesn’t get easier or cleaner. It narrows. It darkens. And it asks more of the people still walking it. That’s intentional. The series has crossed a threshold where looking away is no longer an option, for the characters or the reader.
If you’ve been here since the beginning, thank you for staying with the story as it’s changed shape.
If you joined along the way, welcome. Either way, the highway continues.
The next stretch is already underway.
